Joy in Truth

I’ll See You Again

The Story Behind The Song

Losing Collin changed my life in ways I will never fully be able to explain. There are days when I would give anything for one more conversation, one more hug, or simply another moment together. But as much as I miss him, my faith reminds me that our goodbye isn’t forever. This song comes from that place where heartbreak and hope meet. It’s about the pain of missing someone you love with all your heart, while holding on to God’s promise that one day, we’ll be together again. Until then, I’ll keep loving him, remembering him, and looking forward to the day I can say, “I’ll see you again.”

Lyrics

Verse 1

I set a chair by the garden,
Where your mama still cries at night.
The stars feel a little bit darker,
Since you stepped into Heaven’s light.
But I hold on to the promise,
That the grave don’t get the last word.
Jesus said He’s gone to prepare us a place,
And I’m hangin’ on every verse.

Chorus

So I’ll see you again where the river runs clear,
Where God wipes away every sorrow and tear.
No more dying, no more pain,
Just the sound of angels singin’ your name.
Till I reach that land where the hurt all ends,
I’ll miss you, my boy—but I’ll see you again.

Verse 2

Your mama kneels by the flowers,
She whispers your name in the dawn.
Her hands tremble soft on the roses,
But her faith keeps carryin’ on.
The Lord is near to the broken,
He’s healing her day by day.
And I see His strength in her weary eyes,
As she prays the pain away.

Chorus

So we’ll see you again where the river runs clear,
Where God wipes away every sorrow and tear.
No more crying, no more night,
Just the warmth of Jesus’ holy light.
Till we reach that land where the hurt all ends,
We’ll miss you, our boy—but we’ll see you again.

Verse 3

Your brothers still talk about you,
They laugh but I see the ache.
One hides the hurt behind his grin,
Another bows his head to pray.
But the Good Book tells us, child,
The dead in Christ will rise.
And we’ll be caught up together with Him,
When He splits the eastern skies.

Chorus

So we’ll see you again where the river runs clear,
Where God wipes away every sorrow and tear.
No more dying, no more pain,
Just the sound of angels singin’ your name.
Till we reach that land where the hurt all ends,
We’ll miss you, our boy—but we’ll see you again.

Bridge

Oh death, where’s your victory?
Oh grave, where’s your sting?
He rose up on that Sunday,
And He’ll raise up everything.
So we’ll walk by faith through the valley low,
Till He calls us home, we’ll never let go.

Verse 4

In my Father’s house are many rooms,
Jesus said He’s built us a place.
I know you’re there by the crystal sea,
With mercy and endless grace.
We’re strangers here, just passin’ through,
But Heaven’s our forever home.
One sweet day we’ll be side by side,
At the feet of the Savior’s throne.

Final Chorus (bigger, layered)

Yes, we’ll see you again where the river runs clear,
Where God wipes away every sorrow and tear.
No more night, no more pain,
Just the sound of heaven callin’ your name.
Till we reach that land where the hurt all ends,
We’ll miss you, dear boy—but we’ll see you again.

Outro (quiet, hopeful)

So I’ll carry the cross while I’m here below,
Till the Lord says it’s time to go.
And I’ll run to you in that promised land,
With open arms—I’ll see you again
